Muzzle loading gun barrels manufactured by the Colerain Barrel Company are precision crafted to closely duplicate the original barrels used in Colonial America and Europe. Colerain muzzle loading barrels are made from selected 12-L-14 steel.
RIFLING:
6 groove cut rifling. Radius Groove (round bottom)
.36, .40 are .012 deep
.45, .50, .54, .58, .62 are .016 deep
RIFLING TWIST:
1 in 48” up to and including .40 cal.
1 in 56” for .45, .50, .54, .58 cal.
1 in 66” for .62 cal.
All of our tapered and flared (swamped) and octagonal to round (O/R) are supplied with crowned muzzles and a fitted, flared style breech plug.
Additional Services for barrels:
- We will fit a breech plug for a $20 labor charge (cost of breech plug extra).
- Patent breeches can be fitted for a $40 labor charge (cost of breech extra).
- We will cut dovetails for sights and tennons at a $10 labor charge for each slot. (You tell us where to cut them.)
These barrels are for black powder use only! Use of modern smokeless gunpowder will result in barrel failure and serious injury to you and bystanders. Never use a powder from an unknown source.
